In the Chattahoochee Hill Country, there is a four-county master plan for a 98 mile network of trails. The Alliance and Conservancy agreed that responsibility for this plan should shift from the Alliance to the Conservancy. Implementation of the Plan is in its infancy. Douglas County will be the first of the four counties to implement the plan with the construction of a Path in Boundary Waters Park. Representatives of the four counties meet quarterly. One contribution of the Conservancy is to bring equestrians to expand the expertise in the group.

The trees in the Chattahoochee Hill Country are a treasured natural resource, adding to our rural landscape and removing thousands of tons of pollutants from the air each year. The City of Chattahoochee Hills has more trees than any other city in Georgia. We gather to celebrated trees with the planting of a three trees at City Hall. A crowd of about 50 people gathered as we demonstrated the proper techniques for planting trees and gave a lesson in pruning. This year, Arbor Day took on special meaning as the three trees were dedicated in memory of Michael McGuffey (who had been killed in an automobile accident), in memory of Police Lt. Mike Vogt (an esteemed and loved veteran policeman who was shot and killed in the line of duty), and in honor of the Sprit of Chattahoochee Hills (which had been demonstrated so admirably in caring for families and police officers during these recent tragedies).
